Study Objectives

1. Determine comparative skin wound healing time-interval for Epizyn Derm versus two gold standard antibiotics (Panalog and Triple antibiotic ointment). Rank order the results.
2. Demonstrate enhanced epithelial regeneration (shortened skin healing interval) effect for Epizyn Derm.
3. Evaluate size of remaining scar following Epizyn Derm assisted healing.

Study Conclusions

1. Zn7-Epizyn Derm treatment accelerated healing of surgically created mouse skin wounds/defects. Zn7-Epizyn Derm completed healing in 10 days versus 14-2ldays for controls or Triple Antibiotic Ointment.
2. Zn7-Epizyn Derm once per day was optimal for healing of mouse skin wounds.
3. Zn7-Epizyn Derm healing surpassed both Panalog and Triple Antibiotic Ointment.
4. Panalog Triamcinolone Acetonide treated wounds were not completely healed at study termination (21 days).

Examined are 5 H&E-stained slides

Slide 1 Contains 8 sections of haired skin. Four sections contain 250 to 2500 micron foci of epidermal necrosis and ulceration overlain by accumulations of degenerate neutrophils. Four sections are within normal histopathologic limits.
Slide 2 Contains 8 sections of haired skin. One section contains a small focus of neutrophils within the dermis. Three sections contains 250-500 micron foci of dermal fibrosis that are devoid of adnexa. Four sections are within normal histopathologic limits.
Slide 3 Contains 8 sections of haired skin. Two sections contain 1000 micron foci of dermal fibrosis that are devoid of adnexa. Six sections are within normal histopathologic limits.
Slide 4 Contains 8 sections of haired skin. Four sections contain 25,004,000 micron foci of coagulative epidermal necrosis and accumulation of large pockets of neutrophils. Four sections are within normal histopathologic limits.
Slide 5 Contains 8 sections of haired skin. One section contains multifocal 250-500 micron foci of epidermal necrosis overlain by accumulations of degenerate neutrophils. One section contains a 500 micron foci of dermal fibrosis devoid of adnexa. Six sections are within normal histopathologic limits.
